Braves

So the Braves are (6-7) which is not good. We won the series against the Phillies to start off the year which was awesome. But we've been not to great since. The game we lost to the Phillies should have been a win but in the 7th inning I think we gave up eight runs!!! which cost the game. THe bullpen gave up four straight walks with bases loaded. BASES LOADED. Our bullpen is doing awful AGAIN but I actually think we have one of the best bullpens right now. Like its do really well or do really bad lately.

Earlier I said teh Braves are (6-7). The Flordia Marlins are (11-2)!!!! They have the best record in baseball right now. We are 5 games back and I believe that we can bounce back and rack up some wins under our belt. I think we will come in first in our region this year as long as Chipper Jones stays healthy.

The reason I say Chipper Jones needs to stay healthy is because hes the best and its hard for us to win without him. I tried looking up what the record is but its really surprising.

So far this year... And Carrer Totals...

  • 8 games 2031
  • 31 at bats 7368
  • 7 runs 1385
  • 10 hits 2287
  • 2 doubles 451
  • 1 triple 36
  • 1 home run 409
  • 4 RBI 1378
  • 17 total bases 4037
  • 3 walks 1245
  • 8 strike outs 1150
  • 0 stolen bases 138
  • .548 slugging average .548
  • .323 batting average .310

He is the best player on the team and also my personal favorite. And oh did I forget to mention he's a switch hitter too? Chipper won the 1999 National League MVP Award, as well as the 1999 and 2000 National League Silver Slugger Award for third basemen. He currently holds the Braves team record for career On base percentage (.406), and on May 31, 2006, he passed Hank Aaron for second place on the Atlanta Braves all-time career home run list. On July 5, 2007, he passed Dale Murphy for the Atlanta club record of 372 home runs.

He is behind only Mickey Mantle and Eddie Murray on the all-time switch hitters career home run list. He is considered one of the game's best all-around hitters, and one of the best switch hitters in the history of the game. He is the only switch hitter in Major League Baseball history to have a .300+ career (.310 at the end of the 2008 season) batting average and 400 home runs.

So try to disagree with me that he's not awesome.

My poem explication...

I had the poem...

Latin women pray
Judith Ortiz Cofer
In incense sweet churches
They pray in Spanish to an Anglo God
With a Jewish Heritage.
And this Great White Father
Imperturbable in his marble pedestal
Looks down upon his brown daughters
Votive candles shining like lust
In his all seeing eyes
Unmoved by their persistent prayers.
Yet year after year
Before his image they kneel
Margarita Josefina Maria and Isabel
All fervently hoping
That if not omnipotent
At least he be bilingual
I had to explain:
  • title
  • speaker
  • structure
  • figurative languages
  • imagery
  • irony
  • theme

I did all these things and I had problems with the speaker and irony and theme. I couldn't tell if the speaker was the author or someone else. She is also latin and she said they prey and not we pray. I said the irony of the poem was the huge gap of Christianity and Latin Women. Like they used brown daughters and Great White Father, Spanish to an Anglo God, and other things to show the gap. And I ended with the theme being that it was a culture/identity. The theme I said was even though there is a huge gap to what you believe in. Its you way of life you can belice anything you want to. And she told me today I got an A!!!

My classses

Is coming to an end and I have done well I think. The classes I've taken are accounting, business 2201, physical science with a lab, elementarys statistics, and english 1102.

My hardest class was accounting and I ended up dropping it because I never studied and I was a bad student in there. I needed to get an A in that class if I wanted to have a good GPA for those type of classes which I knew I wasn't going to be able to so I dropped.

BUSA 2201, is an easy class. I have it on Mondays and Wednesdays from 11:00 t0 12:15. There's not much homework and not alot of tests. We use this site called SAM 2007 to work on word, excel, powerpoint, and access assignments. All of these are very easy for me except for access. I've never used it before I got to this class. Its just like excel but with some major differences. I know some of my grades but I have no clue what I have in the class. I know its a B but I want/need an A.

I have Physical Science on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 11:00 to 12:15. I thought it was going to be an easy A. We have done physics and chemistry material in that class. I got a 95 on the first test and then 80's on the second and third. All I need is a 70 on the final to get a B but I need to get a 97 on it to get an A.

The lab was on Thursdays from 12:30 to 2:30 and it has been so awful this year. The first lab we got done in twenty minutes. It was quick and easy and we were the first out of there. But after that it has been a pain in the butt. One lab we got no credit for because we worked on it the entire time and got it wrong. It had to with mirrors and focal points and the angle of incendence and reflection. Like I told him what we were doing to make sure what we werew doing was right and he said it wasn't. Well later we did it like two different times and that was wrong. BUT he told a group different group it was right which was what we were doing. I tell him again what we were doing at the beginning and he said oh you were doing it right to begin with. The reason we didnt get credit cause we had two things to do and we took the whole time on the first one.

I take Elementary Statistics on Monday and Wednesdays from 2:00 to 3:15. Its my favorite and easiest class because I love math. My grades for the test are 95, 94, and a 98 and I took a test yesterday which I think I did pretty well on. Just checked my grades online and they aren't up yet. I'll leave a comment on what I got when the grade is up.

English 1102 is my least favorite class. I have it on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:30 to 10:45. The only reason its my least favorite class is because I struggle at it the most. I'm not that great at analyzing poems and stories and such. I'm not that great of a writer. I have problems saying what I'm thinking. I guess I'm doing good in the class. I need 25 blogs by Thursday for an A cause thats 20% of my grade and I got an A on my poem explication and that will be my next blog.

Know1ng

So if you haven't seen the movie and want to see it. I saw the movie last night and it was good, but also freaked me out.

*****DON'T READ BELOW THIS LINE*****

That movie to me was depressing to me.

In 1959, at an elementary school in Lexington, Massachusetts, a time capsule containing the students' drawings of their ideas of the future is buried and set to be ceremoniously opened 50 years later. A girl named Lucinda contributes a page full of random numbers. That night, Lucinda is found in a school closet, where her fingers are bloodied and she complains about hearing voices. Like she was interrupted by the teacher and she dug those numbers into the door with her fingernails. It was pretty gorey.

In present time 2009, the time capsule is opened and the drawings are given to the current students. A boy named Caleb receives Lucinda's envelope. His father (Nicolas Caige), a widower and professor of astrophysics at MIT takes notice in the paper, and he soon realizes that part of these digits form dates and death tolls of every major disaster over the past fifty years, and suggests three disasters yet to come. I guessed this part, the first date he noticed was 9/11/01 and after that it had 2000 something. Meanwhile, Caleb begins receiving visits from mysterious figures in overcoats, he called them the Whispers, and during his encounters he hears their whispers in his head.

I'm not goin to get much detail after that in case you are reading this and havent seen the movie. Nicolas Caige tries to stop the next events and isn't able to. He tries to find Lucinda's daughter which he does and later on they team up to figure out a way to stop the timeline from coming true. Well the whispers were bad people, they were warning Earth of what was coming. When the numbers ran out. Everyone else was goin to die. And the way everyone die was because of the sun. The sun was having crazy flares and one shout out and destroyed everything on Earth. Except for Caleb and a bunch of other children. The whispers took them to a new planet and on the new planet there was this big white tree. A biblical refrence to the garden of eden I'm guessing and Caleb and Lucinda's grand daughter are the new Adam and Eve.

The funniest thing I noticed which my friends didn't catch was the bunnies. Caleb and Lucinda's granddaughter were allowed to take bunnies with them. Well bunnies are known for their population growth. Which caleb and the girl need to do to start over.

Guys night out

First guys night out I had for a couple of months. The last time I had one was a few months ago where I invited a group of people to go bowling and pizza and poker at my house. I'm not a good bowler. My goal is to get triple digits which in bowling is pretty bad score.

Well last night I had a guys night with my good friend Nathan. He works the night shift at Geico and I hardly ever get to see him. I have spring break this week and he had yesterday off so we thought it would be fun to hang out. We didnt hang out till six and we got dinner at Buffalos. I had the bacon cheeseburger and he had a burger but I forgot what kind he had. We then went to the movies and saw "The Watchmen." The movie was ok, it was really long for one. And there other things I didn't like that I shouldn't say on here.

After the movies we went back to his house and its the first time for me going there. It was a nice small house and I really liked it. We were hardcore gamers that night. We started off playing on his Xbox 360. First game we played was his Mortal Kombat vs. DC. That game was alot of fun. I had no clue what the moves were. I abritraily did one and I would figure out what I did but I figured it out in the end. I only did beat him once out of like ten tries. The next game we played was The Lord of the Rings: Conquest. It's my game and he never played it. We finished half of the game, its really really short thouh. We then get Guitar Hero 3 out and rock to that. I'm awful at the game. The highest difficulty I can do is medium. I'm terrible using my pinkie to hit the orange button.

It's about twelve thirty and we decided to cook a pepporoni pizza, a digorno (I'm not sure if thats correct spelling). After we got done eating, we went to his room and he pulled out old school systems. He has the super nintendo and the original nintendo. We played duck hunt on there for at least an hour. If you never played duck hunt then you missed out. It's a game where you shoot at ducks that come on the screen. You have three chances to shoot one before it gets away. Nathan got to level fifteen and i got to twelve I want to say. But when I got tired of it and so I started messing around and I was able to keep playing more then ten feet away.

The most interesting thing we did that night was take apart his cd player. It had a weird look to it. It had speakers connecting to it from the back and the front was this blue cover that stood up vertically. Well we took it apart because a cd won't play but the radio does. Well we had no success. We took it completely apart and couldn't figure out what was wrong.

Well I stayed over there till about nine thirty in the morning and we didn't sleep. I got home at ten and I was knocked out and I woke up at one thirty. I got a call saying if I could go into at two and I was like great. I'm at work now finishing this blog and I'm sleepy!!!

Georgia Weather

So I'm loooooong over due to do some blogs for english class, so today I'm going to make up for them, well at least try to.

Georgia weather is the craziest thing ever. Last Saturday, February 28, we had a torando or two. The next day we had SNOW! It's been about a few years since we had snow stick to the ground. The best part of the snow day for me was the fact that I actually got to see the snow falling. I've experienced snow days three or four days in my life and I never remember seeing snow falling. I've always waken up to it in the morning and seen it on the ground already.

The snow day was fun I guess. We took our three dogs out, all dachshunds, and two of them loved playing in the snow. The other one was scared. She was whimpering after five minutes being out there. I don't think it's because she was cold because we put a doggy sweater on her. The funniest thing was when Christina built a snow man and that joker lasted four days.

As the week went on, it got warmer and warmer and today it got 83 degrees at one point. Thats hot for me. Going from heavy clothings to shorts.

A Rose For Emily

My first assigned blog for my English class, we are reading "A Rose for Emily," by William Faulkner and we are supposed to create another title for the story and explain why.

The story is kinda hard to follow and it ends up being nasty. The story is about an old woman named Emily Grierson who lives by herself in a large house except for her black servant Tobe. The story is told from the perspective of a towns person so we're only told what the town knows. No one goes in that house besides Emily and Tobe. The townspeople are very nosey of what Emily does. The townspeople think of Emily as the crazy and harmless old lady. At a young age, Emily's father never allowed her to see or go out with men. After her father's death, she started seeing a man named Homer Barron, even though he was flat out gay. One day, Emily goes out into town to buy rat poison. A few weeks later, Homer was never seen again. People thought he had just left because he was a "Yankee" and was moving on to the next job. Later, people complained about a strange smell and after nothing was done about it, a few of the men sprinkled Lyme around her house. After Homer left, Emily never left the house again forcing Tobe to go into the market. Years and years later, Emily dies. Every one shows up for her funeral and remembers her. After the funeral, a group of ladies hurried into the house to look at the one room that hasn't been opened in forty years. It looked like a bridal suite and in the bed was a rotten skeleton wearing the exact nightshirt that Emily had bought Homer. And on the pillow next to him was an indention and one of Emily's hairs. This story is pretty long and I only hit the key points in the story.

It's hard for me to think about a new title for the story. "A Bible for Emily," thats what the title should be. There were many questionable things in the story like maybe she did things with Homer when he was dead. I think she did disturbing things with the dead body. So thats why I changed rose to bible.
